Welcome NPC Men’s Physique Competitor Brandon Seifert to the Competitor Spotlight.
Where do you train? Golds Winchester, VA
Weight On Season: 180
Weight Off Season: 200
Division(s) You Compete In: Men’s Physique
What got you started in health & fitness?
I wanted to change myself and take control of my life. Fitness and health have always been my passion. Once I decided to follow my dream and pursue what made me complete, I was more settled and could conquer the demons that were holding me back.
What prompted you to want to step on stage?
I’ve always had the desire but never the courage. I also never had the support system to help me move forward. A friend said he was giving it a go. At that point, I said why not. I needed to live my dream. I hires a coach and my life changed forever.
Which show was your first show? How many times have you competed since then? Where?
My first show was Pittsburgh’s Elite Physique, Masters. I took the over 40. Since then I changed coaches and tried to move up to Masters Bodybuilding. A series of serious physical setbacks have plagued me. I’m still dealing with a degenerative back disorder, but have not lost my desire.
Are you going to compete again? If so, which shows are you targeting?
Since my physical limitations have caused me to re-evaluate my life, I’ve decided to stick with physique, maybe give classic a go. Now that NOV has an over 50 category, I feel supercharged to try Max Muscle VA State in November, 2017. Let’s see what this old crippled guy can do!
What’s your favorite body part to train? What exercises?
Chest of course! Flat, incline, decline, flies… I follow a FST principle that really fits my body.
What’s your LEAST favorite body part to train? What exercises?
Don’t have one but my legs are not genetically blessed so I work extra hard. I can’t physically squat anymore so leg press variations are my key.
Do you have a consistent playlist for when you’re working out? Any favorites to get you motivated?
As long as it’s fast and loud! This old man loves to dance!
Favorite cheat meal? Go to food?
Italian! Well, cheese burgers too!
Favorite clean eating meal? Recipe?
Salsa chicken with white rice and broccoli.
Do you have a strong support network in place?
I do now… My life is blessed. I’ve become self sufficient over time. It’s good to have support but you need a good life balance.
What do you do for a living? How does your training and nutrition work around that?
I’m an analyst. A desk job is torture! However, I get up and move. I also adjust my diet to deal with a sedentary job. I also train others, this give me balance.
How can people connect with you?
Facebook, Brandon Seifert.
Any addition information you’d like to share?
While dealing with degenerative osteoarthritis in my back, I also dealt with 5 months of chemotherapy. I’m good!!! Man it was tough though. I still trained 5 to 6 times a week. Pushing myself and never relenting. Sometimes I could barely go but I knew I could never give up. I’m a fighter period. You’d think at 51 I’d give up… never. No one will crush me or my dreams. I just have to take a different road but still arriving at my destination.
