We’ll be welcoming Lisa Lopez to the stage as one of our beautiful trophy presenters. Read about her background below or visit Bionic Sports Nutrition at http://www.bionicsportsnutrition.com/.

From Lisa:

I was born in Glendale, Arizona and lived there 2 years being that my dad was in the Air Force, then we moved to El Paso, TX, where most of my family is from. Then, we moved to San Antonio,TX and lived there for 6 years before moving again to Northern Virginia, where I currently reside. I have been a nurse for 22 years and love what I do. I am currently working in outpatient surgery center for doctors for the Redskins.

I have a wonderful family. My husband is my biggest fan and has been very supportive. We have two wonderful children and are blessed by them. I have been with my trainer, Jeff Dwelle, from Dallas, TX now for 4 years. One of the hardest things to do is to give yourself” high- fives” and praise about who you are and what makes you special and different. Well, like everyone, I have a story of what brought me to this point. It all started when I was told I had connective tissue disease 16 years ago. I developed Sjogren’s syndrome and variant lupus. I was told that exercising would help with the chronic fatigue syndrome and other symptoms. So, I proceeded to get myself to the gym regularly. A girlfriend pointed out that a local bodybuilding show was coming up and we should do it. I agreed, and we proceeded to diet and workout. She eventually decided it was too much work, and “I” being the competitive athlete all my life looked at it as something I started and had to see through to the end. So, in 2006, in El Paso, TX. I did my first show and placed 2nd out of a few woman. It all snowballed from there, and I have been competing since then, doing two to three shows a year.

WORKOUTS:

I try to change things up quit a bit. Presently, I train one body part each day doing 4-5 exercises at 4 sets and 12 -15 reps. I do legs twice a week and give myself 4 days rest between. So the rotation of body parts may change, but I have found the rest between for legs beneficial. I train calves every time I’m in the gym and abs 4 times a week. On my day off from training, I do plyometrics. Also, this past year I have started to incorporate stretching post workouts and found that to really be helpful.

FOOD PREP:

I try to cook most of my meals on Sunday for the week. In my off season I will stay within 10lbs of stage weight per my trainer. I eat chicken during prep time and find that the broiled option on the oven is my best friend ever. Quick and easy! Baked sweet potatoes are my favorite with cinnamon.
